The “Edavaka Mission” is a vital part of the Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists Association (M.T.V.E.A), which focuses on activities within the parish. Its main goal is to ensure that every member of the church becomes a missionary, sharing the joy and certainty of salvation, and acting as a witness to others they encounter, regardless of their occupation in everyday life.
The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association, established in 1924, holds an official position within the Mar Thoma Church. The church’s reformation sparked a strong desire among its followers for collective prayer and studying the Bible. This association operates with a comprehensive seven-point program, including intercession, Bible study, sharing personal spiritual experiences, visiting homes, assisting the sick and needy, organizing prayer gatherings, and spreading the gospel among people of different beliefs.
The Edavaka Mission of St Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church plays a crucial role in disseminating the gospel and spearheading mission endeavors within the parish. The efforts of the organisation are concentrated on deepening believers’ understanding of the Bible, exchanging spiritual experiences, and engaging in intercessory prayer. These activities aim to foster spiritual growth and a sense of community among members while also reaching out to those outside the church community.
