"She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy"
— Proverbs 31:20
The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sangham — the women's wing of the Mar Thoma Church — was established during the Maramon Convention in 1919 under the guidance of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan Metropolitan.
In the ministry of our Lord, women played a pivotal role. Some of the most devoted followers and closest companions of Jesus were women — they were the last to leave the cross and the very first to witness His resurrection. The Sevika Sangham carries forward this spirit of devoted, faithful service.
Rooted firmly in the principle of serving the underprivileged and needy, the Sangham has been a tireless presence in fundraising for charitable causes and actively supporting the church in its spiritual endeavours.
Rooted in the example of the women who served Christ, every activity of Sevika Sangham is an act of devotion and love.
Inspired by the women who stood last at the cross and first at the tomb, we are called to a faith that endures — devoted, courageous, and unwavering in service to Christ.
The Sangham is firmly rooted in the principle of reaching the underprivileged — extending arms to the poor and hands to those in need, just as Proverbs 31:20 calls us to do.
Through diligent fundraising and charitable drives, Sevika Sangham channels resources to causes that reflect the compassion of Christ in tangible, life-changing ways.
The women of Sevika Sangham are a pillar of prayer and spiritual encouragement for the entire parish — interceding faithfully and upholding the church's spiritual vision.
Sangham gatherings are more than meetings — they are sacred spaces of sisterhood, where women are known, loved, and built up in faith together.
Aligned with the Mar Thoma Church's missionary spirit, Sevika Sangham actively participates in outreach efforts — bringing the light of the Gospel to homes and communities.
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.— Proverbs 31:20 & 28
All women of the parish are warmly invited to be part of Sevika Sangham — a community where faith is lived out through service, prayer, and sisterhood.
